Why Is My Dryer Not Heating?
A dryer that tumbles but does not heat often has an airflow problem, a tripped thermal fuse, or a failed heating part. Airflow comes first, because a blocked vent can trip safety parts and make a good heating element look dead.

Check airflow
Clean the lint filter, check the vent hose behind the dryer, and make sure the outside flap opens. A crushed hose is a common find.
Thermal fuse and element
If airflow is clear, the thermal fuse, thermostat, and heating element are tested in turn. A fuse that has tripped often points back to airflow.
Gas dryers are different
Gas dryers need igniter and gas safety checks. Never attempt a gas repair yourself, and call promptly for a gas smell.
When to stop using it
Stop and call if you smell burning, the dryer is very hot, or the vent is blocked. Lint and heat are not a combination to ignore.
